May 23 to 29, 2022 marks the second annual Anti-Racism Awareness Week in British Columbia.

It offers a chance for British Columbians to celebrate and learn about the province’s diverse culture, reflect on biases and stand together against racism.

The dates were chosen because the anniversaries of the Komagata Maru, the detection of unmarked graves in Tk’emlúps, the murder of George Floyd and Asian Heritage Month all fall within the same timeframe.

With a recent spike in racially motivated hate-crimes in Vancouver and across the world, the time to act and end racism is now. We must work diligently everyday to support each other, reflect and stop acts of racism when we see them.

Not sure where to start? A list of resources, events and learning opportunities have been assembled for Providence Health Care staff to start or deepen their anti-racism learning journey.
