On Tuesday, June 14, the Mission Integration & Culture team hosted the annual Long Service and Mission Awards Recognition Event. PHC people gathered virtually to celebrate more than 1,000 staff and volunteers for their over 17,000 cumulative years of service. The event also honoured our PHC Mission Award recipients and shared stories of the incredible recipients who demonstrate our Mission, Vision and Values every day.

We welcomed new hosts – Francis Maza, VP Mission, Ethics and Spirituality and Brian Simmers, CFO and VP, People and Health Informatics – who broadcast from a virtual newsroom. Viewers were transported back in time with music and a notable timeline of PHC accomplishments featured.

Thank you to PHC President & CEO, Fiona Dalton, for providing welcoming remarks, Mark Blandford, VP, Seniors Care, Clinical & Operations for introducing the Research and Mission Award recipient, Darlene Emes, Executive Director Acute Care for introducing the Meuser Memorial Leadership Award recipient, Cathy Neugebauer, Providence Health Care Society member for introducing the PHC Society Award recipient and Camille Ciarniello, Corporate Director, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management for introducing the ‘Best’ Patient Safety and Quality Award recipient.

And a special thank you to everyone involved in our Long Service and Mission Awards event, especially the Mission Integration & Culture and Media Services teams, who worked so hard to make this virtual event a success.

We were honoured to celebrate extraordinary people in extraordinary times. It is the everyday contributions of our staff, medical staff and volunteers that strengthen and sustain our foundational Mission, Vision and Values. People are, and always will be, at the heart of everything we do.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating career milestones with PHC, and to our 2022 Mission Award recipients!

We’d also like to congratulate the viewers who successfully answered trivia questions on Slido during the event. The following staff have all won Starbucks gift cards:

  • Alyssa Gallway
  • Sheila Hermans
  • Patty Chaster

If you missed the event, the recording has been posted.
